My artistic focus centers around figurative painting, primarily employing techniques such as montage, collage, and appropriation. Religion, sexuality, and contradiction are recurring themes in my work, forming the foundation of my works. Christian elements feature prominently as they relate to my personal experiences, encompassing introspective reflections on faith, unease with taboos, and personal subjective feelings. Drawing inspiration from both Eastern and Western viewpoints, I meld firsthand emotions with secondhand imagery. Childhood memories, film stills, art history resources, and family photographs provide the material I utilize to assemble disparate fragments into a unique vision.
Gerard Garouste has had a significant impact on my artwork, encouraging me to pursue technical and formal breakthroughs that result in a wide range of images. Instead than restricting my work to a single, unified space, I use collage or split spaces to blend numerous materials and settings to create more dynamic compositions. The contrast between sacred and eccentric, harmonious and chaotic elements in the images reflects the intricate relationship between my inner emotions and the external environment.Furthermore, Gilles Deleuze's concept of "micro-narratives" has an impact on my creative process. "Micro-narratives" emphasize the importance of little, local, individual events over big narratives of greater storylines. These micro events can interact with one another to establish complicated relationships. I hope that viewers can gain more readability from the small narratives in my works.
